Powertrain and performance: HR-V: 1. CR-V: 1. We like: Magic seats, build quality, CR-V engine. We don't like: Dating stying, HR-V's drivetrain and ride. Some say Honda hasn't been quite the same since the shouting stopped.
The reason why this brand used to set the standard during the s' and '80s, they'll offer, is because old man Soichiro used to yell at employees until the products were perfect. He passed away inthe year after the utterly ground-breaking original NSX emerged. Has there been anything of great flavour since then?
Actually, yes. The Civic Type R is great, the current Jazz works well and next one looks promising and I'd love to see the recently-revealed all-electric E urban commuter here. Yet perhaps for every example of genuine pizzazz there's something that might file under 'zzzz'. The sports utility sector is hot yet these models are hardly running at optimal sale temp; the larger placing a desultory seventh, the second holding fourth in the year just gone.
Even though their sectors are well subscribed, this might seem a poor showing given how ground-breaking these cars were in their original formats. From time spent with the AWD Sensing, I'd suggest the latest 'compact recreational vehicle' or 'comfortable runabout vehicle', take your pick deserves more notice.Draytek 2830 fibre compatible
The CR-V isn't flawless yet remains solid and likeable. The HR-V less so. Every maker worth its salt has a compact crossover these days and as much as a new Limited trim brings improvements, the overall impression is that this Jazz-based has been pummelled by the avalanche of rival products.
There's strength in the spec. Leather-appointed seats with heating in the front chairs and LED automatic headlights, taillights and front fog lights are nice treats, and adopting the CR-V's LaneWatch is beneficial as it's a handy feature for tight city commuting. Likewise City-Brake Active System which operates at speeds between 5kmh and 32kmhlane-departure warning and rear parking sensors.
Yet a design just five years fresh has dated. A sloping roofline and rear door handles hidden into the door pillars lend some coupe imprints, but being on trend now means looking especially trendy. And it's just not. While lacking a full sense of 'newness' as result of its shape basically being a facsimile of the one before, the CR-V has aged better and arguably is better attuned to its quite different fan base. Interior themes are broadly similar, so each score well for ergonomic sensibility and major instrumentation clarity. However, neither gets the active safety gear offered in the Sensing models, not even AEB.
While the five-seater CR-V has plenty of boot space thanks to its low-set floor, the seven-seat version has had to make a few compromises to include the extra pews in the rear. CR-V dates back toand so is one of the earliest entrants into what is now the most popular vehicle segment here. The wee five-door probably has the greatest owner retention rate as what does one replace their Jazz with?
Another Jazz of course as the winning formula of a small car with oodles of space simply works for its owners. And it must be a similar story with CR-V. Like arranging the controls to perch on the dash, leaving the centre console area for oodles of storage space.
Naturally, I took the opportunity to try to push them towards buying something cool. To a kid in the early 00s, nothing could be more uncool or detestable than any of these. But, the world has a knack for folding over on to itself every now and again. Nowadays crossovers — like it or not — are cool. Manufacturers, including even Ferrari, are queueing to enter the market as they overtake sedans as the most dominant selling passenger cars.
But, while crossovers are now cool, the Honda CR-V has lagged behind somewhat; still entrenched in the mire as a vehicle for cripplingly conservative families.
The all-new CR-V could well change that. In fact the first shipment of CR-Vs arrived just as the company was preparing to introduce the five-door hatchback version of its Civic range. So what could Honda NZ do? It quickly added the vehicle to the subject matter at a media conference that was supposed to be the preserve of the hatch and its racy version the Type-R.
At the media conference Honda NZ marketing manager Nadine Bell forecast more than CR-V sales in the eight months to the end of the current financial year, and more than sales next year. October 22, Share the knowledge. Read more about the Honda CR-V on www. April 6, March 30, March 20, March 13, Honda has updated the CR-V for next year as a mid-cycle refresh.
That means better specification for the lower-end models and new features for the range-toppers. Honda has given its largest, still-technically-a-mid-sized SUV its Sensing active safety suite across the range. That means even the base Touring FWD gets adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, collision mitigation braking system, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning and adaptive high-beams.
Lesser CR-Vs now have a hands-free powered tailgate, dual-zone air conditioning, smart-key entry and push button start, a leather steering wheel and an infotainment system with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and in-built Garmin navigation app. The Sport Premium has leather seats and a steering wheel with paddle shifters as well. Visual tweaks include a blackout grille up front, a broader opening for the intercooler and gunmetal trim.

What about under the bonnet? Crucially for meall models now have the 1. Last year there was still one model — the CR-V S — that held onto the old 2. Unfortunately, the CVT transmission remains. Though, to be fair, this is a family SUV, not a sports car. But then again, the Sports Premium has both Sports in the name and paddles behind the wheel, which both indicate this is a vehicle that can be driven in a sporty fashion.
The CVT dampens that spirit considerably, which is a shame because the engine is really quite good. The front-drive Touring weighs a bit less than the all-wheel drive Sports Premium and so the power is felt more but having shove at both ends means the AWD CR-V gets off the line quite briskly.
Out on the road the powertrain performs just as well as it can be expected to. By that I mean it will achieve motorway speeds fairly quickly and the CVT settles revs nice and low in the range while cruising. Honda has made the CR-V quieter than I recall as well, with road noise almost imperceptible at any speed. The Sport Premium has a specific tune for the suspension, steering and electronics that help it navigate bends better than before as well.
Meanwhile, the Touring makes do with the normal CR-V-spec tune for the chassis and steering, with less comfy cloth seats to boot. So is this still the bang-for-buck champ of the segment? Plus, look at how far the rear doors open. Any other cars I should consider? Well, a lot, given these two models encompass a wide price range. It also forgoes many of the active safety aids like adaptive cruise control. Every Tiguan gets a dual-clutch gearbox, either six or seven speeds depending on the model, L of luggage capacity, seven seats in the Allspace and a comprehensive technology suite.
Nile BijouxSep 29 A good thing, too. The Sport Premium swaps the cloth seats for leather and adds paddle shifters behind the wheel. The standard features list sees all models with inch alloys and a full sparesmart key, seven-inch infotainment with sat nav and Apple and Android compatibility, DRLs, front and rear sensors, lane watch and reversing cameras, a driver attention monitor, and a five year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
Only the top model comes with AEB as well as active cruise, lane keeping and auto high beams. Also new is the engine, all models powered by a 1. This is a development of the Civic unit with a new turbo to help make kW with Nm of torque available from rpm.
Along with the new turbo and electrically-controlled wastegate, it uses cylinder cooling tech from Type R to manage combustion temperatures and help lower consumption, which is rated at 7. The CR-V is rated to tow up to kg, or kg for the seven-seater. The 1. Expect a thorough assessment in the September issue of NZ Autocar magazine. Print Digital Enews. Contact Advertise. New optional parts revealed for Honda Civic Type The truth about motoring journalism - Arnold Difflock. Tesla on target to hit huge milestone by theIt may not be the largest or the most powerful compact SUV, but the CR-V is an extremely well-rounded runabout that should be high on your test-drive list. The Honda CR-V is underpowered, sort of weird looking, doesn't have a third-row seat and no longer has a picnic table built into its cargo bay.
These are all criticisms that can be lobbed at the CR-V, but none seem to matter much to American consumers. InHonda's fully redesigned compact SUV was the runaway best-selling sport-utility on the market, beating out nameplates like the RAV4, Escape and Tahoe by tens of thousands.
While sales are often a poor meter of a vehicle's worth, in the CR-V's case, the American public has picked a winner. It's an extremely well-rounded machine that successfully manages to be just what its name suggests -- a Comfortable Runabout Vehicle. With high gas prices and growing environmental concerns, Americans are turning to compact SUVs in record numbers for their ability to provide safe, family-friendly utility while getting better gas mileage than larger models.
The CR-V is one of the best at accomplishing this mission. While lacking in power particularly on the highwaythe CR-V's horsepower four-cylinder engine delivers very good fuel efficiency.
The CR-V's interior is its best attribute, offering an impressively large and versatile cargo hold that tops out at 73 cubic feet of space. Additionally, there are plenty of bins, cubbies and cupholders to stash things. The reclining rear seat is spacious and comfortable, and it slides fore and aft to maximize rear legroom or to get problematic kiddies closer to mom and dad. To more easily spot childhood calamities, Honda has thoughtfully provided a "conversation" mirror spy mirror may be more appropriate built into the overhead console's sunglasses holder.
Today, this segment is one of the most competitive and popular, with at least 16 models competing for Americans' hearts, minds and checkbooks. All are deserving of a good long look, but the Honda CR-V is an excellent choice that does a great many things very well.Cacique chacao historia
The EX comes with alloy wheels, a sunroof, rear tinted glass, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, a removable trunk shelf and a six-speaker stereo that comes with an in-dash six-CD changer. The top-of-the-line CR-V EX-L adds leather upholstery, a power driver seat, front seat heaters, upgraded exterior trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a front center console instead of the retractable traysatellite radio and a premium sound system with seven speakers and a subwoofer.
The lone option is a touchscreen navigation system that includes a rearview camera and digital audio card reader. With the navigation system, the premium sound system's CD changer migrates to the center console and a single-CD player is added behind the retracting touchscreen. The CR-V is powered by a 2.
The engine comes paired to a five-speed automatic transmission, and buyers have a choice of front-wheel drive or an all-wheel-drive system that only apportions power to the rear wheels when front slippage occurs.
In performance testing, an all-wheel-drive CR-V went from zero to 60 mph in 9. What it lacks in quickness, it makes up for in fuel economy, however. All major safety features are standard on the Honda CR-V, including antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags.Fifth Gear Web TV -- Introducing the Honda CR-V Crew Car
A backup camera is available only on EX-L models equipped with the navigation system, but Honda dealers can sell you parking sensors for lower-line models.
The CR-V performed extremely well in government crash tests, earning a perfect five stars across the board for front and side crash protection. Like other Hondas, it feels light on its feet, with well-weighted steering that provides excellent feedback. Ride quality is composed and comfortable, and the cabin is well-insulated from the road noise that plagued past CR-Vs. The brakes are also an area worth commending, as pedal action is smooth and consistent.
Of course, the CR-V Achilles' heel continues to be its overwhelmed four-cylinder engine, and highway passing can be an adventure. Perhaps the best attribute of the CR-V is its attractive yet practical cabin design.
Honda's designers sweated every detail. Not only are the controls and instrumentation ergonomically correct, but there are numerous parent-friendly conveniences as well.
Honda’s CR-V is back
For starters, the wide-opening rear doors and lightweight rear liftgate make it simple to load infants and their strollers. We especially like the multiple detents on the rear doors, which keep them from swinging back in tight parking spaces. From the front seat, you can monitor toddlers via the conversation mirror built into the sunglasses holder, while the folding center tray in LX and EX models allows for hasty dashes to the backseat.
Luggage capacity measures Average 26 mpg mixed driving. Drove mi cross country, with cargo tray on hitch lbs of stuff on it, lb dog inside with seats folded down of course, 70 mph and I averaged 30 mpg on hwy.
Power is good for a 4 cyl and a lb car.
The design of the cars interior will grow on you, very thoughtful and utilitarian design that you will appreciate the longer you drive it. It is a car that is a good compromise of reliability, room, and economy! I had a Suburban that could not pass a repair shop. The CRV likes to pass gas stations and thats great! Replaced front brake pads only and rotors milled at 90, miles I know!! Never had a vehicle even near this long lasting.
Oil changes every 3 or 4K. Still safely on 3rd set of tires, largely because the 2nd set High grade Michelins lasted for 65k. That's it! Other than gasoline honest 24mpg city, 28mpg highway. That CR-V is simply the best overall vehicle I have ever owned. We love our CRV. We love the cargo capacity and we have hauled just about everything you can think of.
Road test review: Honda CR-V Touring and Sport Premium
We love the comfort of the interior and have taken many driving trips in it. Except that now that it is a bit older and the ride is getting a little bumpy, there is nothing we can say that's negative about this car.
When we trade it, it will be to get a newer one. We're just that satisfied. Other than low fuel economy 19 miles in the city and a design issue with the cargo space rear seat supports narrow the floor space in the center of cargo areaI love my Honda CR-V. Good pickup and handling, comfortable seating and decent electronics make this a great all-around auto.
I'm the original owner and have had no major issues and costs to maintain my CR-V have been excellent. Will keep her as long as she will run! I researched this vehicle quite a bit before buying, honestly not my favorite looking SUV, but when comparing to it's competion, it is lower priced than the Toyota RAV The write up by Edmunds in regards to highway performance, or the lack of, is false!
If your comparing it to something with a V-8, then yes, it does not pass a car as well. But it's not using a V-8! I'm getting 24 mpg combined, and highway. Popular searches. My Account. More about the CR-V. View Photos. How to pronounce irish names

My husband, a friend and I recently completed the "Express Iceland" self-drive tour and had an unbelievable time. Working with Nordic Visitor exceeded all of our expectations. I wish Nordic Visitor serviced the entire globe.
In other words, it's everything you need and more to ensure you have fun and peace of mind when traveling this beautiful and rugged country.
It's great value for the money spent. They handled our special requests (adding an extra day and changing our party size) promptly and happily.Ryzen 3600 idle voltage
We did our own independent research yet it overlapped with most of what Nordic Visitor gave us. We were all impressed with the quality and quantity of information that we received once we booked the self-drive package.
Yet we were blown away by the packets of info we received when we arrived. Nordic Visitor provided a printed copy of the day-by-day itinerary and the site highlights book they had emailed us. They had a voucher for all of our package features (rental car, accommodations, airport transfer) so all we did at each location was hand them a voucher - so easy.
The cell phone had Nordic Visitor saved in the contacts. The GPS had the key sites and some of the hotels already loaded.

We would highly recommend the self-drive trip around the Ring Road as arranged by Nordic Visitor. The country is spectacular!. It was easy for us because all the accommodations were arranged and were great.Wiring diagram seymour duncan hot rails stratocaster
There was a detailed itinerary and information, back-up systems if needed, and quick and thorough service from Hilmar in the office.
I would love to have taken 2 weeks instead of one to really absorb the country but what we experienced in beauty, natural phenomenon, and nice people made for a terrific vacation. I have enough history and geology to think about to last for a long time. From the moment of booking to our return flight NV and Alexandra made the whole trip a once in a lifetime experience. Even the weather was perfect although I'm not sure they had anything to do about that. The booking process was simple and clearly explained everything we were booking and the extra options available.
